Are you responsible for design management of major construction projects? Are you into all kinds of engineering work and would you like to be the one to lead everything on a project? Or maybe you just don’t know your own capabilities and want to know what to do.
Have you already read many theoretical project management books? These books will give you a good background and also tools that you can use in your projects. Often they focus on smaller projects or give general guidelines that apply to all types of projects. Books on lean management can also be useful. Books on construction sites and general management are also good. But do they give practical advice on how to manage your day when you don’t even have time to start the most important tasks on your endless to-do list?
You may have found yourself in a situation where you’ve had to explain to a contractor manager why drawings are late. Why your designers are leaving? Or maybe you’ve had trouble getting your team to work together in the right direction and in a more efficient way to get things done. It’s all really frustrating.
Don’t give up. You could be the person who is the hero of your next project. It may be that the advice you’ve been given to manage your situation is not right for you. Or they are too theoretical. You need to constantly re-evaluate your approach – whether it is working or not. This reflection should be done at least weekly.
We can help you to find the best way to take control of your project and how to lead so that everything is done in the most efficient way possible.
We have divided our e-learning courses into three different categories. They are presented below. The courses will be available in the spring 2023.

Practical leadership
Is your to-do list endless? Is your inbox full of countless
messages and you’re sitting in meetings? What advice have you received so far?
Reorganise your day, put each task on your list and manage your time
better.
This doesn’t help when you’re in a constantly changing
environment.
If you are for example working as a lead designer, you may have been in a situation where you have listed the 10 most important things to do in the morning after work. Then the next day you realize you haven’t even managed to start the list. The whole day has been taken up with more pressing matters.
In large – even huge – construction projects (and if you’re working as a lead designer) you can’t predict the day. There will be always issues after issues when you are a project leader. You have to accept it. To survive you have to re-evaluate the way you work, sometimes on a weekly basis. There is no golden rule here, but there are many ways forward.
We’ll give you practical ideas how to get through those days when all you can think about – or don’t have time to think about – is the mountain in front of you. When there’s a mountain in front of you – there’s always a place to go around it.
We tell you steps for better project management and leadership.

Team is your engine
Are you having a great team, but somehow they are not just working together? Do you trust your team. If not, have you thought that the team should also have confidence in their manager. If they can’t trust their leader, what do you think the end result will be?
Even the best of designers and managers are struggling with this. Trust is everything. Without it, everything is just more difficult.
A team is more than the sum of it’s parts. When there is mutual trust and good team spirit between team and management, miracles can be achieved.
Personal success
What do you want to do in the future? If you’re a recent graduate, you don’t need to know it at the moment. If you’re older, do you know what you’re good at? In both cases, the most important thing is to know what your strengths and weaknesses are.
When you think about your strengths at the moment, think about what kind of work do you like to do? Do you feel that you need a busy environment to get yourself moving and to get the best out of yourself? Or do you like a working day where you have a simple to-do list for each day, and then start the next day with a blank slate.
If you’re still young, give yourself time. Don’t rush into a leadership role too quickly if it doesn’t feel like it at the moment. There are natural leaders who are great leaders under the age of 30. But there are also leaders who need to spend some time gaining work experience to become even better leaders later on. Everyone has their own path.
You don’t need to know if you want to be a project manager in the future. We’ll give you some tips to get you there if you want to. And you might find that it’s not really for you. Or you might be surprised and discover new potential in yourself.
